I came across some package designs and found these funny and clever. It was a collaboration with Starbucks and Extra gum, to show your teeth can stay while even thought your a regular coffee drinker. I thought it was funny how they put the white teeth at the bottom of the cup, it a good way to grab people's attention.

I thought these package designs where clever. I find it interesting to look at different creative solution that designers come up with. The first is a bag for a beauty store advertising for hair extension and the second on is for a fitness company.

I thought this images was clever. The title of the piece is "Where's Father," it took me a second to understand it, I just saw the feet and the hand and my mind automatically registerd a figure there, but then as you look closer there's nobody there. I also liked the color choices with the light colors popping out against the dark background.

I thought this piece was neat. I enjoy well thought out billboard that have a creative solution. I especially like the way they interacted two billboards together. It's a good way to grab you viewer attention and keep them talking.

Both of these images are done by Tibor Kalman he's know as the "bad boy." I enjoyed looking at most of his work. I think that it is interesting how he pushes the boundaries, for example with these two mag covers, the first one is issue on Race, most people would steer clear of but not him. The other cover with the newborn is supposed to represent the birth of the publication, yet using a screaming baby with the umbilical still attach is bound to catch the viewer attention but at the same time I'm sure it caught it fair share of criticism as well!

I thought this weeks Psychedelic was fun and exciting to look at. I really enjoy the loud, bold vibrating colors. So this poster is from Seymour Chwast on of the influential designer of this time. I really like the simple drawing of his face in black and white then his name in hand-drawn type in color, it really allows for it to pop out!

This poster was made with old woodtype, just to say "I love typography." I thought it was clever, to mix the old woodtype with a recognizable symbol such as the heart. I
like how the letters and numbers are all at different highs creating a interesting texture.

I thought this concept was interesting. It is a calender and it was named "Helvetica Calendar 2008." It was produced in 2008 to celebrate 50 years of Helvetica typeface, but never was produced it missed production time. I liked the layout, also the white against the black, the overall cleanness of it. I also thought the outlines of the other date in the background where interesting.

I enjoy looking at good, creative design on business cards. They are so little and you don't have much space to put a lot of information, so I enjoy seeing creative resolutions. The first one I liked the color scheme as well as how simple and clean it is. The second I liked the humor of it. Every time you see this card you will know exactly who is for, so it send a very unforgettable message.

Since this week is Early Modernism and I'm the presenter for it I thought I would use an example from this time. This piece is done by Man Ray in 1924. it can be found in our text on page 268. What I like about this piece is the color contrast between the black and white. (the pic is gray on blog but black in book?) The white on this dark background really allows for the white squares to pop out at you. I also like the way the space is rendered and the surrealism feel it has.

This series of street posters were placed on public kiosks (usually dominated by Day-Glo drink-special flyers from local brew pubs) along Pearl Street in Boulder, Colo., with the goal of elevating the visual discourse in the public landscape. I thought they were really eye catching. I like the contrast between the black and white as well as the basic graphics and the simplicity they have.

What attracted me to this piece? I really liked the simple quality is has. Anytime you can use minimal element yet get your message across just as clear is impressive to me. The use of colors work well together too, the warm colors are really popping out while the cool colors are receding.

What I liked about this poster was the color choices. I think that they work well together making it a very appealing piece. I also like the white line used against the black contrast in colors is very interesting.
